Show JEFFERSON & CATES ATTEND MEETING OF STATE ROAD COM. Effort Being Made to Have Road Work Done on Force Account State Senator Geo. Jefferson and Representative W. Cates attended a meeting of the county commissioners with representatives of the state road commission held in Beaver yesterday yes-terday afternoon. The matter of construction work on the north end of highway 91 in Beaver county was under discussion. It was proposed to do the heavy grading and graveling in the vicinity of Wild Cat hill by steam shovel, other machinery and trucks rather than on force account. Under the present conditions Beaver Beav-er county officials believe that the work should be done by hand labor and teams, and the meeting arranged yesterday was for the purpose inducing induc-ing the state road commission to agree to the force account construction construc-tion plan as an aid to the unemployment unemploy-ment situation in this county. If successful in affecting a satisfactory satis-factory agreement with the state, it will mean a vast amount of work for men and teams of this county, as this is one of the largest road projects to be completed during the year in Beaver county. It is understood that if the work is done in force account that Milford and Minersville men and teams will be accorded the same opportunity for work as those in the eastern part of the county. |
