Show LOCAL WARD VOTES FOR A NEW CHAPEL ESTIMATE STRUCTURE TO COST 40,000 A large and enthusiastic meeting unanimously voted for a new ward chapel last Sunday evening at the sacrament services held at the L. D. ""L - S. church. Bishop Beck, of the Boyle Heights ward, Hollywood, Califrnia, Stake, was the first speaker of the evening. Due to the extensive experience of Bishop Beck in one of the fastest building stakes in the church, he was able to present the subject of "New Church Chapels" in an instructive, as well as inspirational manner. Brother William White, and Taylor Farnsworth both of Beaver, followed with splendid discourses upon the subject of church chapels. Bishop W. A. Miller presided, and presented a building committee, of the following men, who were unanimously unani-mously sustained: Dr. Chas. R. Par-rish, Par-rish, Joseph Smith, Leonard Bowen, Clark Kesler, E. H. Bird, and W. E. Bowman. Dr. Chas. R. Parrish was sustained as chairman of the Building committee. The chair was then turned over to Dr. Parrish who briefly presented some of the findings of the Cmmit-tee, Cmmit-tee, and then called upon various members in the audience to express their individual sentiments. The financing of the building will be mainly through individual donations dona-tions locally, and the main office of the church at Salt Lake City. It is customary for the Main office to match the money contributed, or contributed by the local wards. Several citizens have already of-fered of-fered substantial donations from a civic-pride standpoint, and many have offered financial as well as ' moral support. The Building committee expects to have the assessment work completed complet-ed during this week. Those receiving alottments are expected to negotiate negoti-ate their individual loans, if necessary, neces-sary, in order to insure building activities acti-vities as soon as possible. The proposed building will be a $40,000 structure, with an amusement amuse-ment hall in connection strictly modern in every respect. Of this amount twenty thousand must be -' raised locally. While this is a tre- mendious undertaking for a small ward, it is believed that this amount can soon be raised if all continue with the spirit of cooperation and service which permeated the meeting meet-ing Sunday evening. |
