Show BERYL DISTRICT j Over in the Beryl pumping district dis-trict there are some mighty fine patches pat-ches of potatoes; about twenty ear loads of choice potatoes went out from there last season. Several of them were filled with bags in which 83 potatoes filled the hundred lb. bag. The alfalfa and other crops look good too. One can't help thinking think-ing what a wonderful valley that would be if it were all under culti-' vation. On the Clark ranch they are putting put-ting up about 300 tons of hay this season. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fisher whose ranch is about four miles out from the Station at Beryl have the finest flock of turkeys it has been our pleasure to see; about two hundred and fifty of them, three and four months old and well grown. Mrs. Fisher states that they had about twice as many last year and that they made some good money from j them. The initial cost of the baby turks and the feed required to place: them on the market, she says, ran j around $1300, but they got top pric-j es for them on the coast market and some of the birds weighed 2S; pounds. Mr. Fisher works for the Doolittle Gas and Oil Co. while Mrs. Fisher stays on the ranch and looks after the turkeys and chickens. j. |
