Show HORSEMEN BATTLE RAGING TORRENTS Jack Holt and thirty-four other riders braved the wiftly-flowing treachery of the Stanislaus river, in the California Sierras, and swam their horses from one bank to the other while making Zane Grey's popular Western, "The Border Legion," into a talking motion picture. J The river was swollen by March' rains which had melted the snow of the lower Sierra ranges. At the point where Holt and his fellow riders crossed, the river was approximately' seventy-five yards wide. j Four horses became entangled by the current and the riders had to leave them and swim for safety. j Scenes for "The Border Legion,-'! which will show at the Victory theatre starting Thursday for three days, were made in the very locations which Zane Grey pictured when he wrote the story.
