Show FIRE DAMAGES MAIN STREET BUILDING A fire which started in the attic of ' the New Atkin cafe, Monday noon, p;esumably from a defective flue, threatened for a while to become a serious conflagration. Only the prompt action of the local volunteer fire departm ent prevented much greater loss. The fire had gained such headway that the chemical engine was not sufficient suf-ficient to quench the fire, so a line of hose was run in and the fire was soon under control. The contents of the cafe and the Progressive Clothes shop next door were somewhat damaged by water, but were carrying on business "as usual" us-ual" the same afternoon. , |
