Show SOUTH MILFORD that "Mn's club was having a birthday birth-day party," to the last step of the vrary dancers at a late hour the ninth anniversary of the Social Hour club passed into history as one of the most delightful functions ever given by that club. The rooms were bright j with green and yellow streamers,' jyroen grasses and gorgeous yellow j and purple iris. The following pro- ( gram was pleasingly rendered: cor-From cor-From the waggish sign at the front door of the club house, placed there no doubt by some thoughful husband, net solo, Don Elmer; history of the club, Mrs. Jimmie Gospill; vocal solo, Emma Patterson; reading, Eldon Cates; cornet solo, Jass McKnight; May pole dance, the Live Wire Girls. Games and dancing closed the even-j even-j ings entertainment. Delicious punch , and ice cream with cakes were served by the committee with Miss Gladys i Gospill in charge, the Live Wire girls assisting in serving. Mrs. Harold Sautter was chairman of the decoration decora-tion committee, Mrs. Parley Fisher is club president. The club meets next on Thursday, June 2, with Mes-dames Mes-dames Haskell and Ellingsworth as hostesses. Director William Peterson of U. A. C. Extension Division accompanied by Dean Porter and County Agent Lew Mar Price spent Saturday and Sunday obtaining data on water tables tab-les and advising with the ranchers as to the present agricultural outlook. Miss Ethel Stanley of the Ogden State school accompanied by her friend Miss King arrived by motor from Ogden last Saturday afternoon and will visit with Miss Stanley's parents in their new home on the flat and with Mrs. Walter Weber who is a sister of Miss Stanley. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sautter held an informal "Posey" afternoon last Sunday many friends called to view their garden of magnificent multicolored multicol-ored iris. Mrs. James Laughder of Shoshone, Idaho spent last week visiting her brother, Arthur Williams. On Friday Mrs. Williams entertained at dinner for the family and guests including, Mrs. Clements and daughter Verda and Mrs. Robert Tomsik all of Mil-ford. Mil-ford. Mrs. Viva Grey and children from Nada moved on Monday into a house i j one half mile east of the C. G. Has-i Has-i kell ranch and will make their home' on the Flat. j ; Several of our girls have been en-; en-; gaged in potato cutting for the Parks i Co. during the past several days. j i Chairman of various sub committees commit-tees met at the home of general dhairman, Mrs. Harold Sautter on Tuesday afternoon to complete the rosterj of Committee members who will assist in the annual Flower show to be held in early August. The Live Wire girls met on Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon and studied color and color harmony. MINERSVILLE Mrs. Clara Evans and son Rule of Stockton, are spending some time here with relatives. Miss Bertha Howd of Beaver was a guest at the Josiah Osborne home Thursday and Friday of last week. Mrs. Nellie Griffith has returned home after spending a few weeks in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Griffiths and baby of Beaver were in town Wednesday. Wednes-day. Mr. and Mrs. William Jones and children of California are here at the Joseph Wood home. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hall and daughter Iona returned here Sunday after spending the past winter in St. George. Miss Dorothy Banks spent the week-end at Parowan. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Roth and baby of Tooele, are here visiting Mrs. Roth's father, Samuel Bradshaw. Mrs. Lorin Goff and baby are visiting vis-iting relatives in Washington County. Miss Norma Osborne spent a few days at Beaver with mends the first of the week. Hartley Eyre who is working at California spent Wednesday here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Eyre. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Banks had as guests Sunday night Ivan Warr and their nephew Billy Allison of Eureka. A. 0. Hardy and son Eugene made a business trip to Beaver Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Myers entertained enter-tained at their home Friday night, the time was spent in playing "500," high score prizes were given to Mrs. Lester Roberts and J. H. Gillins, after af-ter which supper was served to twenty twen-ty guests. Miss Annis Goff entertained a number of her friends at a party Monday night, music and games were the diversions. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Corbridge entertained en-tertained at their home Monday evening even-ing sixteen guests were present. GREENVILLE Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Welbeck and children Nada, Ralph and Gladys went to Fillmore to visit friends and relatives Wednesday. West and Roy Barton went to North Creek where they have employment em-ployment there. Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Kesler and family of Milford who have been spending, the past week at the homo of Mr. and Mrs. Orson A. Blackner returned to their home Thursday. Al Barton and Mr. Hess went to Minersville on business Friday. Joe and Mart Barton, Glenn and Eddie Barton, Floyd Henroid and Howard Walbeck attended the dance given at the Hanging Rock Thursday night. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Blackner and children visited friends and relatives at Milford Friday. Mrs. Sarah Thomas and daughter Alice of North Creek are visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan K. Barton. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Parkinson and family of Pintura spent a few days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Morris and family. Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Williams spent Tuesday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Anderson of Jackson county. P. M. Williams went to Manderfield Wednesday. Mrs. Blaine Blackett of Beaver spent Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dan K. Barton. Delmar Kesler and Grant Murdock are working at the shearing corral. Clark Griffiths has employment herding sheep for C. D. White of Beaver. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rollins and daughter of Duchene are visiting at the home of Mr. Rollins' parents, Mi, and Mrs. Perley F. Rollins. Amasa Barton is taking care of his cattle in Wah Wah, he left last week. Mr. and Mrs. John Anderson of Jackson County called at the home of their friends, Mr. and Mrs. Perce M. Williams. Margaret Thomas of North Creek is spending a week at the home of her friends, Agnes Morris. Mrs. T. C. Parkinson and son Claude of Pintura who has spent the past week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Morris returned home Saturday. Sat-urday. Mrs. Morris returned to Pintura Pin-tura with her where she will spend a week. Nola Baker of North Creek is spending a week at the home of Agnes Ag-nes Morris. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Beaumont. Josephine Thomas and Elsie Shipp of Beaver were in town Sunday visiting friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. David Reese and children of Cedar City spent Sunday visiting here. Mrs. Gus Easton of Beaver spent Sunday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Reese and children of Cedar City spent Sunday visiting with friends and relatives. Billie Bartin spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Martin of Beaver. Floyd Henroyd left Thursday for Salt Lake City where he will spend a week visiting friends and relatives. Agnes Morris entertained a number num-ber of her g-irl friends at a candy pull Sunday night. Those present were Raema and Hazel Barton, Agnes Ag-nes and Barbara Morris, Editha Williams, Wil-liams, Nola Baker and Margaret Thomas. Everyone had an enjoyable time. Fern and Eva Murdock are spending spend-ing a few days at the home of their father Joseph Murdock of Milford. Billy Mobies of Milford visited friends here Sunday. Esther Barton of Beaver who has been spending the past week at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Barton returned to her home Thursday. Leslie Walbeck is moving his family fam-ily into the R. R. Thomas place. Mrs. Perce M. Williams called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Barton and family of Beaver. AJice Jones of Milford is spending a week or so visiting with her grandmother, grand-mother, Mrs. Sarah Jane Martin. ADAMSVILLE Donald Eyre left Sunday for Minersville Min-ersville to spend a few days at the home of Tom Gillins. Mrs. Jack Idle, Mrs. Fred Macker-ell, Macker-ell, also Mrs. Stan Puffer were visitors visit-ors on Aberdare Sunday. Samuel Johnson of Beaver was a visitor here Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Frazier of Cedar City were visitors at Adams-ville Adams-ville last week. Sunday morning at Sunday school the children here put on a play which took up the greater part of the time, Every one enjoyed it. Lester Jameson drove a herd of cattle through here Sunday. Carl Levi and wife was here on business the later part of the week. Nellie Heslington and daughter Serola were down on their farm visiting visit-ing for a few days last week with Mr. Heslington. I Mrs. John Gunn entertained twelve of her lady friends at a club dinner Wednesday night. Melbourne Limb is over from Buck-horn Buck-horn looking after their ranch. J. T. Joseph and wife of Beaver were visitors here Sunday. Friday night a number of the road ; men here attended the dance at the Hanging Rock park. Last Thursday Linda Munford and Florence Edwards of Manderfield, also al-so Mrs. Winnie Puffer of Adamsville i motored to Milford. Adrian Baldwin of Manderfield called at the home of Loyal Baldwin Saturday night. Miss Maxine Puffer spent a few days at Manderfield with relatives during the week-end. BEAVER Sheep shearing at the Gilbert Smith corral west of town was completed com-pleted last week. Mrs. Golden Eyre of South Milford spent Monday in Beaver visiting with her sister, Mrs. Harland K. Goodwin. Miss Maude Myers and Miss Lorna j Blackburn of Minersville spent Monday Mon-day at Beaver visiting with friends. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Nowers are rejoicing re-joicing over the arrival of a baby j boy, born May 20 at noon, weighing 794 lbs. Mother and bahe are doing fine. Mildred Lucille, 4-year-old daugh-! ter of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Murdock, ! caused considerable excitement Mon-1 day when she wandered away from ! home. The big irrigation ditch near I the house was running bank full, andj it was feared that the child had fall- en into it. An alarm was given and j the entire neighborhood turned out to assist in the search, only to find j the chifd safe at the home of Rodney White. Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Martin of Milford Mil-ford visited at the home of Mrs. Margaret Mar-garet Griffiths Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Grimshaw, Mr. and :Mrs. Randolph Grimshaw and I family of Cedar City spent Sunday visiting with their mother, Mrs. Mary Jane Grimshaw of Beaver. Neils Jensen and Ed Larsen made a trip up to Puffer Lake lodge Tues day to look over the damage done to the lodge by the heavy winter snow. They found part of the roof caved-in, and will begin immediately j to repair the building to have it in ' good shape for the opening of the j fishing season. Mrs. Harold Morrison and two children of Helper, arrived Friday for a week's visit with her sister, Mrs. H. M. Christensen. John Twitchell, 70 years old, and ' a resident of Beaver for many years, was committed to the state hospital i last week. Mr. Twitchell has hard- j ening of the artery near the base of j his brain, and it is thought that he ! would receive better care at the state j institution. j Sheriff Jensen took the aged man , to Provo Saturday. I Harry Hodges, accompanied by his j brother Billy Hodges, drove up from Monterey, Calif., the latter part of j last week after spending the winter in the southland. They expect to re- j main in Beaver during the summer to look after their farm interests. Dr. and Mrs. E. H. White and four children of Treiwonton spent Saturday and Sunday with his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. White and his brother, Dennis White and family. Their son Hartley, is spending spend-ing a week with his cousin Howard. |
