Show POPPYDAY A Million dollars in a day! Ten million poppies worn in tribute to the World War dead! That, briefly, is the Auxiliary memorial poppy sale. A million dollars dol-lars raised in a day and every penny of it for an unselfish purpose! Ten million little red flowers distributed to honor the men who gave their lives for America, and every flower made by the hands of the war's living victims vic-tims ! The Auxiliary's annual poppy sale is a stupendous and dramatic thing. It is the big- moment of the year for our organization. It is a project in which we must succeed to assure success suc-cess for other activities which mean so very much to our Auxiliary. Every member who sells poppies on Poppy Day can be proud of her part in making mak-ing possible our rehabitation and welfare wel-fare work throughout the year. The poppy sale, too, means work for disabled veterans who could not possibly find other means of helping support themselves and families. It gives them) interesting worth-while occupation with which to pass the long hospital hours and it gives them money for the many things which the government does not provide, money to send home to struggling- families made destitute by theii illness. If the poppy sale meant nothing else bu.t the employment for the disabled, it would be worth all the effort we put into it. There is no finer way to keep alive the spirit of remembrance than to ask everyone to buy and wear a poppy pop-py Saturday when they are on- sale. o |
