Show MILFORD ROOKIES LOSE TO LYNNDYL IN 7 INNING GAME Milford baeball team, made up almost al-most entirely of rookies, invaded Lyn-ndyl Lyn-ndyl Sunday and lost by one point in a 8 to 9 game played on the Lynndyl field. Only four of the first string were able to go to Lynndyl and one of them was forced to play out of his usual position. However, in spite of the disadvantage under which the team played, the boys put up a good ball game. Moreover, the game brought to light unsuspected talent in Claude Horton, appearing for the first time in a baseball suit, who came through with sensational hitting and played credibly in the left field. Horton has been faithful in appearing for practices practic-es throughout the season and given his chance Sunday, he proved to be the star of the game. In the absence of Livergood, Howard How-ard Tanner was taken from third base and put behind the bat. Roldo Turner Turn-er who has not had a glove, in his hand this year held down third. Root and Done appeared in their regular position, posi-tion, second and short stop; and Cook, who since his appointment as manager manag-er has played only in emergencies, played second and hit the best he has this summer. McGhie, pitching, was in great form and with treasonable support could have won the game by a wide margin. Easton was entirely off his game in the center field while Gillins of Minersville Min-ersville recuted the last minute to com plete the nine was put in right field. Gillins and Turner, boys who have not played ball at all this season or had any intention of doing so, showed fine spirit in responding to the emergency. emer-gency. In spite of the shifted and weakened weaken-ed line up, the boys held a lead over Lynndyl for several inning and held them tied until the seventh when the winning run came in. As Lynndyl had played a seven inning game early in the afternoon with Mammouth, winning win-ning by a score of 8 to 9, the game with Milford was only seven innings.
