Show Road Workers Strike For Higher Pay Between twelve and fifteen teamsters team-sters operating fifty to sixty horses, employed by Strong and Grant on the highway between here and the Indian reservation, went out on strike Monday Mon-day morning and work has been held up this week. The men are from St. George, Santa Clara and Washington. Wash-ington. Teams are being brought in from Enterprise and Cedar City sections sec-tions and the company's horses which are now in Springville will be here within the next day or two and operations op-erations will be resumed. Grading only was affected, the concrete crews staying on the job. According to some of the strikers interviewed Monday, they quit because be-cause their demands for a raise from $7.50 to $8.50 per day for four-horse teams were not met. Washington County News. n |
