Indications of a mining activity is noticeable in Beaver county at the present time. Peter .Peterson and1 son, of St. Paul, Minn., arrived this week in Milford, and are preparing to begin operations on a small scale at the Independence mine in the Beaver Lake mining district. Mr. Peterson is president of the company which owns some valuable property in that section. The Galena Mining company which owns claims adjoining the Independence Indepen-dence Mining Company's holdings, of which M. T. Morris, of Salt Lake City, is president, is also preparing to begin development wrok on their property. pro-perty. Frank Osborn, who is interested inter-ested in the property, is in charge of the work. North of Beaver the Fortuna Gold Mining Company are making preparations pre-parations for extensive experimental work, having secured a site in Beaver for the erection of a small mill to test out the various grades of ores they have uncovered during their development de-velopment work the past two years. Several claims are being worked in the North Creek section. Earl Shot-well Shot-well reports a promising vein of gold ore uncovered last week on his holdings hold-ings in that section. L. H. Morrison, president of the Horn Silver Mine at Frisco, was a visitor at that camp last week, and expects to return again next week. Plans are being formulated for more activity at this famous old mining camp. |
