Show Division of Poetry The three principal classes of poetry are epic, dramatic and lyric An epic poem Is a long narrative poem dealing with events In the life of the hero or heroine. For example, "Evangeline" and "The Eneld" are eplca. A lyric Is ;i brief poem which expresses the sentiment of the poet. As Dr. William Wil-liam V. Wilbur expressed it "An epic is always the story of some one other than the poet" This is contrary to ihe lyric. The word "drama" means the deed. A dramatic poem Is one the emphasis In which Is upon action. |
