Fire which is presumed to have originated from defective wiring came near destroying the American Legion pavilion and arena at Cedar City one evening during the week. Considerable damage was done before be-fore the blaze was extinguished. The Iron County School Board has set the levy at 14 mills as necessary neces-sary to raise the amount of money budgeted. This is 1 mills higher than the Beaver county levy. Mack Morris, of ,St. George, is languishing in the Iron county pail, serving a 30 days' sentence, as well as paying a $10 iine for forging forg-ing a name to two checks. Cedar City will place a float in the big "Covered Wagon Days" parade par-ade in Salt Lake City on July 24th. Bids are being called for at an early date, it is understood for the erection of a new building at the B. A. C. to replace the one which was recently destroyed by fire. It is understood un-derstood that the new one will be an administration building rather than a dormitory. i An itinerate peddler of fishing tackle was fined $10 in Richfield for operating without a city license. He paid his fine .took out a license sold enough goods to make a nice profit. Richfield Lions will give a big "pep" meeting, banquet and dance at Fish, Lake on July 11. Such dignitaries dig-nitaries as Governor Dern, the newly new-ly elected district governor of Lions club and members of Southern Utah clubs are expected to participate. The directors of the Associated Civic Clubs of Southern Utah will hold their next regular meeting in Loa, Wayne' county, on July 9.
