Show I SPECTACULAR FIRE " MENACES DWELLING One of the hottest fires to occur in Milford for some time, started in an old frame building near the freight depot at 10:30 P. M. Tuesday. The Fire department were quickly, on the scene, but the fire burned so rapidly that there was not a chance of saving the old building, but the boys did good work in saving a nearby residence, the roof of which caught fire from the intense heat. The property pro-perty belonged to Hugh Bartlett, of Caliente and the residence was occupied oc-cupied by Carl Roberts and family. Fortunately there was no wind, or the freight depot and other nearby buildings would have been endangered. endanger-ed. There are a number of these old shacks and partly burned buildings in Milford that should be condemned and torn down. They are an eyesore to the town - are of no value to their -owners except for the material in them, and they are a constant fire hazard, imperiling more valuable property. |
