Duchesne has made wonderful progress pro-gress during 'hr past year. Somewhat slower than her neighbors In building, build-ing, new life was given the town upon acquiring tho county seat. Many new businesses were promoted and new residences started to build In every part of the town. In tho spring of this year a destructive de-structive fire entailing a loss of $20,-000 $20,-000 visited the town. Larger, better bet-ter buildings of brick and cement now occupy the stricken district, nud many other structures of the same material are in tho course of construction In various parts of the own. Duchesne is well equipped to take care- of visitors and settlers in a bua'ncss way. The business houses are progressive and up-to-date. It I the home of the Duchesne Stage office, R. M. Pope, C. E., and R. I. Mills, optician arc locatee here as are the various officials offices Two church organizations are represented. rep-resented. The Latter Day Saint and the Episcopal. A beautiful brick school house of five rooms employing employ-ing five teachers and with an increased in-creased enrollment this year of about 100, and a large public hall with seating capacity of 500 help to make Duchesne 'a desirable place to live. A water system will soon bo installed, install-ed, $3, COO bonds having been voted recently for this purpose. Duchesne is the mail distributing point for Strawberry, Fruitland, flabby, Stockmore, DIuemesa, Hanna, iTalmage, Boneta, Mountain Home, ! Bluebell and Altonah. Three stage lines run out of Duchesne to these I various points. j The Bank of Duchesne recently 'organized will open its doors Oc.to-!ber Oc.to-!ber 1&. The well equipped creamery of the Duchesne Creamery company is now operating end turning out an excellent grade of pasteurized butter for which the demand is increasing daily. The Du-iehesne Du-iehesne Stage & Transportation company com-pany and the postofllee will be located locat-ed In the new building in about .'!0 ( days. , The population of Duchesne is estimated es-timated at 425 an increase of 25 per cent during the past year, i Larger tracts of land, the Blue Bench containing 17,000 acres, the Purple Bench, 9,000, the West Bench, ,C,000 and the river bottoms 3,000 acres give Duchesne a good territory to draw from. The canal of the Blue Bench Irrigation District No. 1 waters a large part of the Blue Bench and the Farnsworth canal part of the Purple bench.
