It has been the aim to write something about every community, hamlet, village, town and city. If any section of the yreat I'intah basin has been over looked it was an oversight. In December 1007 the Verual Express Ex-press published a special edition, in that edition there was an article about the reservation. That article told all there was to tell at that time. It. covered the ground thoroughly. thorough-ly. The growth of this country since -1H07 has been something wonder-l'ul-almost beyond belief. Head the Verual Uxpress article and then read the story of the reservation in today's to-day's Free Press. It docs not seem possible that the people could accomplish accom-plish so much in so short a time. Look at the map on the front page of this paper and see the many towns and then read about these same towns on another page. In 1907 but very few of them were on the m.ip. In 1D07 then' were, but few irrigation irriga-tion canals outside of the Ashley valley, and but little acreage in cultivation. cul-tivation. Today there are 475 miles of main canals and many, many hundred hun-dred miles of laterals. The land is being brought under cultivation very rapidly. on me iniierent pages oi tins issue will be found articles telling of growth and development of this (ouutry. Just think of it in December De-cember 1007 there was not an electric elec-tric light in all this 120 by 70 miles. Now Vernal and the Ashley valley in I'intah county and Roosevelt and Myton in Duchesne county are well lighted. In 1907 there was one bank iu the basin. That was the Bank of Vernal. Today we have the lanl ut VornalT lhe Roosevelt7 HanklftR company at Roosevelt. the Myton Stuto bu.uk at. Myton and soon the Hank of Duchesne will open its doors. The Vernal Express was the only paper in 1907. Today we have the Express, the Roosevelt Standard, The .Myton Free 1'ress. the Reservation News and the Duchesne Record, all doing well and boosting the country. The Myton Free Press, in its Industrial In-dustrial edition is glad to be able to tell about these Improvements and this growth and development.
