Melville, superintendent of the pro Ject, took the Investigators for a trip over the country and upon the lands ' t different points along the canal where head gates or other place of Interest were located. The soil from one end of the valley to the other is rich nnd free from any kind of mineral min-eral thut would In any way be destructive destruc-tive to growing crops. Tht watT for the lam' has been provide! throufth a mn'imoth reservoir dum across the Sevier river, thus ponding water sufficient suf-ficient to furnish one and one-half acre feet for each acre of land. The water is now upon tho land ready for use. At present alfalfa and grain are the principal crops raised. Large tracts of this land have already al-ready been purchased by farmers from different parts of Utah, also from the east. The small town where we left tho train Is upon the property and along tho Clark road, and Is named Delta as a recognition of the company. Upon entering the office of the com pany, we were agreeably surprised to meet our genial townsman, Fred Cot-terell, Cot-terell, whom, we were informed by Mr. Melville, was employed by his company as chief engineer. Mr. and Mrs. Catterell live at the office building build-ing and are counted Important members mem-bers of the social and official staff. The project Is a good one and offers of-fers exceptional opportunity to secure se-cure a farm without leaving the stato. In last week's Issue was an explanation explana-tion of a piece published In the Issue of June 8th, and In reply will say: Tho article was written and based upon statements that were made to me by different people who claimed they had talked with the writer. Whether a right or wrong statement, I do not feel to take any blame for It It waa written as a current news Item and contained only what I could glean from what people told me. You can say 1 was misinformed. That may be true, but to people who are more acquainted with the Incident It may be hard to make them believe It. |
