Show Everything indicates that the "Greater" Delta country will experience ex-perience a greater degree of prosperity and development by far the coming year than has t vei taken place in its history. This season has produced Very satisfactory satis-factory results, considering the olf season, and the man behind the plow is growing familiar with conditions which are necessary for the best yields and he is getting get-ting his land in hand and well subdued and under control. There has been many more families fam-ilies added to the community this summer and many more are iue to arrive this winter and next spring. Next spring will ;ee Delta take on a very decided growth and there will be a number num-ber of new enterprises spring up luring the coming year. This has been the case in all the larger lar-ger irrigation projects of the A'est. After a certain stage things move very fast. From joth internal and external appearance ap-pearance we have reached this stage and from now on the :hange will be rapid and ' substantial; sub-stantial; a number of good things for Delta are already in the atmosphere at-mosphere and we don't feel tnat we are amiss when we say "Watch Delta Grow." Of the value our county agents the Salt Lake Tribune says: "A similar system was established establish-ed in Denmark about 1850, and as a result that nation has risen from a poverty-stricken to a very prosperous land. In fact Denmark Den-mark is the agricultural,phenom-enon agricultural,phenom-enon of the time. She has learned learn-ed the secret of co-operation, both in production and marketing, and has eductated her people mainly through her farm eN perts. County agent work began ir Utah in 1911, when L. M. Win-sor, Win-sor, now irrigation expert fot the state, was sent into the Uinta Uin-ta basin as farm expert. Since then the work has gradually anc steadily grown until, at the present time, about Half the state in area, and more than hall in population, is receiving experl advice constantly from these men. Being a new movement, the .vork is and has been subject tc much opposition, most of which comes from the land "sharks'' :ither directly or indirectly. After vain attempts to get the bounty agent to help sell their lands, some unscrupulous rea estate men have launched campaigns cam-paigns against the agent and have seized every opportunity tc thwart his plans. One man Was almost driven from his county by these land "sharks." That Millard County is becoming becom-ing famous for her quality and luantity is evidenced by the following special from Ogden: "In a letter received today by Preston Thomas, county agricultural agricul-tural agent, the farm bureau of Peoria, III., has indicated its desire de-sire to purchase alfalfa seed direct di-rect from the growers of Weber county. The Illinois farmers assert as-sert that they can purchase any amount of seed from dealers, but prefer to deal direct with growers grow-ers of a locality where alfalfa is a principal crop. As there is no alfalfa seed in the market here Mr. Thomas says he will refer the Peoria bureau to Millard county, Utah, where a large quantity of seed is always ready for the market. |
