Show School House to be Built as First Planned The Millard County School Board held a meeting at Fillmore last Monday to consider the matter mat-ter of erecting a one a one-story school building for Delta according accord-ing to the plans of State Architect Archi-tect Watkins, and we are pleased to announce that they didn't fall for his ideas which, while they could be concluded for some less money, called for a mere shell of a building. As we have it, he furnished the plans for the A. C. Nelson building and the old board of that district can probably advance sufficient reasons reas-ons why our county board should ignore any advice or solicitations from him relative to any school buildings to be built in Millard county. The board in anticipation anticipat-ion that his proposals would not be satisfactory, had instructed the Chronicle to begin running another call for bids last week and this publication completes the call. The board will meet again next Tuesday to open and award the bids for the Delta building and the contractors who receives the contract will be required re-quired to push the structure as fast as possible and will probably probab-ly be working on the excavation by the first of August. We have no fault to find with the board for considering the state architect's archi-tect's plans, as in such things it is good business judgment to make haste slowly. We admire them, however for their quick preception of the unsatisfactorily unsatisfactor-ily concocted plans, as they all saw at once, when the plan and specifications were produced that the building was not what they nor the people of this county would be satisfied with. During the meeting the resignation resig-nation of County Supt. Dean Peterson was accepted and several sev-eral candidates' names were considered con-sidered for the place but no action ac-tion was taken looking to the fulfillment ful-fillment of the position. We did not learn what Mr. Peterson's idea was for terminating his connection con-nection with county school matters mat-ters nor his future intentions. |
