The base ball boys are to give a party and dance on Saturday night Sept. 19. Coffee and cake will be served with ice cream on the side. Wheat in the Delta country is now moving rapidly and there will be about eight cars go out from the Sugarville branch and from the local yards this week, j Merritt Kimball who has spent the summer with his brother, Don, near Abraham, has returned return-ed to Los Angeles where he will resume his studies during the winter. Senator Sutherland is slated for a campaign speech in Delta on the evening of the 12th, next Tuesday. He will be at Wood-row Wood-row the afternoon of the same date and at Fillmore on the 13th. Mrs. Frank Beckwith and daughters Athena and Florence and son Frank, returned to Salt Lake last Saturday where they will take up their residence for the winter. Cashier Beckwith accompanied them to the city and returned home the first of the week. Wm. Hurley, of Salt Lake was down last week looking over his homestead on the bench north of Holden. He expects to put in some crop this fall. While here he made the Chronicle a pleasant call and set up his credit on the paper a year. Mrs. Harry Aller entertained the O. Z. O. Field Manager Davis of the Utah-Idaho Sugar Co. was exhibiting exhib-iting some beets in Delta last week which weighed seven pounds each. They have yet between thirty and. forty days to grow and mature and beets of this size now will be some whoppers whop-pers by harvest time. They were grown by Mickel Lloyd on the north tract. Mr. Lloyd is an old beet raiser from Idaho. Get on the registration books before election so you can vote. Fred Cottrell was a business visitor to Salt Lake the last of last week. Chas. Ball of Los Angeles arrived ar-rived here Tuesday and is looking look-ing for a place to rent. D., was down from Salt Lake the latter part of last week looking look-ing after affairs on the Midland proj ect. The Buckeye ditcher for Millard Mill-ard County Drainage District No. 1, at Hinckley, has arrived in the Delta yards and is to be unloaded and transferred to its place of operation. Miss Helene Davis recently had the misfortune to have her pony step on her right foot, taking the skin off the whole upper part of that member. She was laid up for several days but is now able to get around minus one foot. Mr. Legg of the Landes Machine Ma-chine Co., was here Tuesday and Wednesday and delivered a traction trac-tion engine to the McCornick & Livingston farm near Abraham, which will be used for plowing. The Landes Co. sold Messrs Mc Cornick & Livingston an Avery tractor for their Moapa Valley ranch. R. M. Rogers is turning out cement blocks for a six-roomed residence on C. O. Warnick's farm one-half mile south of the Deseret spillway. Mr. Warnick now lives in Deseret but will move to his farm. Mr. Rogers is also preparing the blocks for a nice five-roomed residence for Riley Johnson. It will be located locat-ed in the southeast corner of the town site. |
