Show evening was a grand success, with 200 people present. The women served, free, an abundance abund-ance of ice cream cones and sandwiches. Everybody had a jolly time, over-eating and planning plan-ning for a town clean-up this fall. Prizes of $5. i?3. and $2. are offered by the II. E. A. for the best looking, cleanest premises. prem-ises. The contest will close Sept-15th, Sept-15th, with a big dance, to which free tickets will be issued for every full days work put in on cleaning up and improving the town. Some of the things to be scored are sanitary toilets, barnyards barn-yards and corrrals, wells, protection protec-tion from flies, condition of yards, both as to freedom from weeds and beautifying improvements, improve-ments, condition of fences and buildings, as to repair and paint, condition of sidewalk and street, along premises etc. A good many sanitary tuilets have been installed this summer, especially by members of the H. E. A. in addition to those built for the spring contest. Mayor Joseph Blake, James Blake, Frank Pratt, Richard Parker and others talked, talk-ed, giving suggestions and in-couragement in-couragement for improvements, Dr. Broaddus read a long but interesting article from the State Board of Health on "The Cleaning Clean-ing up of a State", Mrs. Broaddus Broad-dus reported the State Health Officers Convention and she and Lapriel Robinson both sang. Mr. Christensen and the orchestra furnished special music also. Last Tuesday evening Mr. and Mrs. Smith, at their lovely modern mod-ern home southwest of town delightfully de-lightfully entertained the Union Sunday School. Between forty and fifty were present to enjoy the games, music, refreshments and general hospitality of our hosts. On account of the canyon outing out-ing the H. E. A. meeting at Mrs. Rich Cropper's has been postponed one week. Leslie Neely has returned from quite an extended trip to Salt Lake. Pas waters Bros, confectionery ?tore and their residence in the rear and the post office, which was located in the same building, were burned to the ground last Sunday night. At the time the fire was discovered there was no one in the building and the origion of the blaze is unknown. A tramp who was resting under the water tank discovered the fire and gave the alarm but it had got beyond control. The loss is between $2500 and $3000 and there was, we understand, about $1400 insurance. j Hinckley Happenings.
