The Sand Hills Farmers' ossocla-tlon" ossocla-tlon" of Moore and Lee counties, North Carolina, Is a young organization organiza-tion as yet, and bas no warehouse. Still tbe members are determined to market their cotton co-operatively. Here Is their plan: The association will require of each member who Is willing to have bis cotton sold through Its offices, a refusal re-fusal on said cotton until It bas bad the opportunity of grading It, securing secur-ing samples and submitting same to the several large buyers and export-ers export-ers with whom tbe association Is now In correspondence, and in turn submitting sub-mitting the resulting bids to the owners own-ers of the cotton. Tbe association Is In the possession of a set of government grades or samples, which are open to the members' mem-bers' Inspection at the office of tbe association at Plnehurst, and will secure se-cure the services of a competent grader, whose expenses are to be met prorata by the members of the association as-sociation whose cotton he grades. The association -will guarantee what cotton It sells to come up to tbe specified speci-fied grade and will affix Its seal to very bale graded and sold through Its offices and It will hold Its members mem-bers strictly responsible to protect the grade of their cotton from the time It Is graded until delivered. The association believes that by adopting this plan the following ad-vantaeee ad-vantaeee will accrue to Its members: 1. Tbe grower will be paid the full market price that the grade of bis cotton entitles him to, which he has not been getting from local buyers heretofore. 2. Hy selling large quantities of cotton cot-ton of certain specific grades In bulk, a betfpr price will be secured from the large buyers, exporters and mills than would b the rase If the cotton were sold In small quantities. 8. The rommlsslon of the local buyer buy-er will be eliminated. 4. Dy having large quantities of cotton of specified grades to sell, the association will be In a position to get com pet It re bids from the buyers to whom It offers the cotton. 5. Ity guaranteeing the cotton to come up to specified grades, the association as-sociation relieves the buyer of the risk that he ordinarily runs, and believes be-lieves for this reason that It will be able to secure better prices. |
