Fifteen hundred Navajo Indian rallied In defense of eight renegades and are retried in armed encampment on Ilesutlful mountain, moun-tain, thirty five mlUt southwest of the Bhlprork agency, lryln United 8tates Marshal Hudspeth to take prisoner pris-oner the renegades, who are wanted on federal warrants charg nn horse stealing, assault and bigamy. Two troops of cavalry have been asked for by the marshal and the request re-quest has been referred by the war department to Major General Tarter, In command of the border patrol. It la feared that before the cavalry arrives the renegades will be Joined ty many more at (be command of the medicine men and of the plural wife men who are reported to be stirring the Navajos to relielllon. The Indians are fortifying on a h'gh table mountain, the summit of which Is aproachable by only one tortuous road. |
