Show . Oak City Offerings. (Jos. H. Christenson, Rep.) We believe spring has come this time to stay after having a aig snow storm to wind up winter. win-ter. All the farmers are busy getting get-ting in their crops at present. A uumber of teams and men are bnsy working on the new road west of Oak City to Delta. It is believed this will be a much better route than where the road has been and also closer.' On Friday, May 14th, the Oak City Brass Band gave a benefit dance for Mr.Lem Roper, who is still in Salt Lake City in a critical criti-cal condition. Ice cream was served, and while no price was set on tickets, all donated freely and the proceeds amounted to about $50. We feel to thank Leamington for such a big turn out to our party on this occasion for it helped us out very much, and we hope they will not call that their last visit with us. Come again and have a good time. All present had a good jolly time. Oak City Band boys played the scouts a game of base ball Saturday, Satur-day, the score being 18 to 17 in favor of the Band team. This was a starter for this season. We are going to play the game from now on providing anyone can get out to play. John Alldridge has returned to Oak City for the summer but he makes a trip to Leamington each Sunday just the same. The reason rea-son for this can easily be guessed, gues-sed, as Leamington has some nice young ladies over there. Our young boys are sorry to see the bounty go off on the ground squirrels as they have a great deal of fun catching these fellows, and it is also a good thing for the farmers. It would be a good thing if this bounty could keep up all the season as we do uot have time to thin them out enough. The rabbits are now working on the crops pretty hard and that means a big reduction re-duction by harvest time. We have all got to fight this pest to a finish, so keep after them boys. All of the school students that have been attending the M. S. A. Academy at Hinckley the past winter have returned home for the summer. We are always pleased to have our town folks with us and they are also glad to return to Oak City. Miss Carlo Lyman, of Mayfield, is here helping her father in the mercantile business. Mrs. Maggie Mag-gie Rawlinson, who has been in the store for some time has quit and gone to gardening. |
