Show Abraham Crop Report , An interesting letter on con-. con-. ditions of alfalfa and sugar . beets by A. W. Reed. Harvesting is in full blast in this vicinity. Crops are some what short on accout of cold 3 spring but the assured I high price of grain will make up for this. ' Prospects for an alfalfa alf-alfa seed crop was never better. 3 The farmers of Abraham have 3 organized a Water Users' Assoc-i Assoc-i ition for the purpose of looking after the interests of the Abraham Abra-ham Irrigation Co. The sugai beets planted in this part as ar r experiment are certainly looking fine. They tell the story thai 1 beet culture is no longer an ex r periment but a grand success. 1 The writer planted one and one-3 one-3 half acres on what is known as 1 t le worst alkalied land in the county and we are glad to reporl J that the sugar beet is king ol r alkali. These beets are flourish-3 flourish-3 ing without water, having nevei ; been watered since planted, - And we will say to those whe have signed up with the South- - ern Utah Co., to prepare to make good this contract as there is nc t risk to run. When considering J planting sugar beets we musl look beyond personal interest as 1 it will increase the valuation of - real estate all over Millard coun- - ty. The taxes on such an industry will help buildup our schools and j roads, and make Delta a trading i center. It will draw the atten- - tion of moneyed men, as one i great industry calls for another, and last, but not least, all kinds r of stock do well fed on sugar beet3. |
