Show THE TRACK MEET. A Largs Crowd Present to Witness the Athletic Events. Owng to the very cold and windy , weather on last Friday there was not ft very largo crowd present to witness wit-ness the annual exercises of the M. I. A. of the various wards of the stake. On Saturday the weather whs warm and pleasant and there was a large attendance from every ward In the stake and some from other parts of the county. The story telling, musical and elocution elo-cution contests were held at the ward hall and the building was crowded. ' The story telling contest was won by Oak City, and the recitation by Delta. In the preliminary musical contest between Oak City and Oasla the decision de-cision was given to Oak City, but the winners were so sharply criticised that they refused to contest with the Hinckley singers, the winners of the preliminary contest with Delta. Hinckley therefore entered alone and took first place. The athletic contests took place at the race track and ft good crowd of rooters were present to cheer for their favorites. There was also five Innings of base-bull base-bull between a picked nine from Hinckley and Deseret against a nine from Oak City and Delta which was won by our western neighbors. On both evenings there wss a very largely attended dance at the ward hall with skating at M arson I Hall on Saturday evening. Excellent music was furnished by the Jenklna orchestra or-chestra from Nephl and although It was raslicr crowded everybody en-Joyed en-Joyed themselves. |
