Show Funeral Services Held For Laurleen P. Abbott Funeral services for Laurleen Peterson Pe-terson Abbott were held Monday, April 8, 1946 at 2 p. m. in the Delta First ward chapel. She was the wife of Phillip Abbott, former resident resi-dent of Sutherland and at present of Berkeley, California. Mrs. Abbott died in Berkeley on April 5. The services were under the direction di-rection of the Oasis ward bishopric, bishop-ric, with Bishop Clark Bishop, conducting. con-ducting. The opening number was a violin solo, "Oh My Father," by Norma Hannifin. Bishop Bryant Larson gave the opening prayer, followed by a solo, "There Is No Death," by Ladd Cropper. The first speaker was Golden Erickson. Miss Ora Mae Bishop played a zylo-phone zylo-phone solo, "Whispering Hope," after which Mrs. W. R. Walker spoke. Miss Nadine Peterson sang a solo, "Face to Face." Peter Peterson, high councilman, was the next speaker, followed by a solo, "Going Home," by Glen W. Rawlinson, after which Bishop L. E. Peterson spoke. The ladies chorus from Sutherland sang "Shall We Meet Beyond the River." The closing prayer was offered by John R. Bennett. Burial was made in the Delta cemetery where the grave was dedicated by John H. Western. Mrs. Abbott was born February 12, 1912 at Oasis, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter A. Peterson. She received her early education in the public school of that community com-munity and her high school training train-ing at the Hinckley high school. She graduated from Weber College Coll-ege in Ogden and later attended the Brigham Young University and the University of Utah. She has always al-ways been actively engaged in the work of the L D S church having filled a mission to the eastern states, having served as ward president pres-ident of the Primary association, and as an MIA stake board member. mem-ber. Prior to her marriage she taught school for several years in the Sutherland and Delta schools, She was married to Phillip Abbott Ab-bott August 7, 1939 in the Salt Lake Temple. Surviving besides her husband and parents are four children: Lynn, 5; Joyce and Julia, twins, 3; and Phyllis, 1; also the following brother and sister: Peter" H. Peterson Peter-son of Oasis; L. Elmer Peterson of Ogden, and Mrs. Lillian Roundy of Oasis. Among the members of the family fam-ily from out of town who were here for the services were Mr. and Mrs. Perry Abbott of Lehi. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Abbott, of Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Leon Abbott of Orem; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Sorenson of Springville; Bishop and Mrs. L. E. Peterson of Ogden; Mrs. Eldorma Leavitt, of Provo; Mrs. Elmer Mc-Clellan Mc-Clellan of Salt Lake City; and Mrs. Brooks Abbott from California. |
