(Chatter Box) Dear Suzy, Morgan I'll Take What the Gov-ernment Leaves You Edwards, loc-al assessor, caused quite a furor last week which kept Jack Ben-nett, and even his own son hop-ping. It seems that Morgan left his pickup truck out in front of his home in Delta the other night and when he got up the next morning the truck was missing. Consultat-ions with the local law set the forces in motion and soon the truck was reported in Pleasant Grove, and would someone please come and get it. Monday Cornwall Edwards and Dick Judd went to Pleasant Grove and drove the truck home, arriv-ing safe and sound and no trou-ble. Cordell came along and as he wanted to go to Beaver borrowed the car and took off. He had just entered the out -- skirts of Beaver when the truck and Cordell were taken into cus-tody and Cordell consigned to the clink there, which made his trip to Beaver very unhappy, and made Cordell decidedly unhappy. Beaver officials called Jack and found out that the truck- was no longer hot, and that possibly Cordell was do-ing right by driving it there. Cordell was released from cus-tody and was able to go about his business and was also allowed to drive the truck home, after be-ing admonished to not let it hap-pen again. Morgan now has the truck again and is making his rounds to see how much we each owe the county. Carl Miller local Nero, tried the other day to burn down Jiis house, but he wasn't successful as Nero when he burnt down Rome, and the fire was put out after a little confusion about the domicile. It seems that Cart wanted a quick fire and having a little kerosene handy tossed it in the stove to add to the blaze there. The kero-sene didn't take kindly to this treatment and showed its disgust by getting the hell out of the stove and fast. When it got to burning on the walls, furniture and cupboards ab-out the kitchen Mr. Miller-decide-that there was a possibility o'f him having a little too much fire, and so he put in a hurried call for the fire laddies. They answered to the distress signal and soon had the fire down to a nubbin, leaving some nicely scorched and smudged articles strewn about the kitchen. But every cloud has a silver lin-ing and this was on exception, be-cause now Mrs. Miller will never have to shave her legs again, as the fire is said to have singed all the hair off her legs. According to Jack Bennett, who investigated the fire, but not the legs, this report on Mrs. Miller's condition has not been verified. It just sems that us girls have no privacy. Toots.
