Show Services Held Sunday In Provo For Oliver Davis Oliver Lee Davis, 66, well-known Delta contractor and builder for 30 years, died Thursday, Feb. 22, in the Utah Valley hospital in Provo, after a short illness. He was taken to the hospital Monday. He was born April 14, 1884, in Provo, a son of Joshua M. and Sarah Jane Cloward Davis. He attended at-tended Provo schools and became a brick mason and building contractor. con-tractor. On June 23, 1904, at Provo, h was married to Sarah Ann Harding, Hard-ing, who died in 1915. In August, 1920, he married Mabel Corry in Provo. They came to Delta in 1921, and had made their home here since. Mr. Davis was a member of the LDS church. During his years in Delta, Mr. Davis had done considerable building, build-ing, both of homes and business houses . He was also an expert bnckmason. He was highly regarded regard-ed by his friends, and respected as a master of his trades. Survivors include Mrs. Davis, at Delta; six children from the first marriage, Oliver P. Davis and Mrs. Jesse Richards, Salt Lake City; Arnold N. Davis, Mrs. Thelma Hal-lerman Hal-lerman and Mrs. Mildred Bates of Provo; Mrs. John L. Davis, Ogden; nine children from the second mar riage, McKay and Russell Davis, Salt Lake City; Reed Davis, with the U. S. Air Force stationed in Florida; Scott, Mona, Laurel Davis Dav-is and Mrs. Barbara Shurtz, Delta; Mrs. Kathryn Adams, Ogden; Mrs. Shirley Krisher, Kokomo, Ind.; 4 brothers and sisters, Neal Davis, Chester, San Pete county; Mrs. Jane Tanner and Mrs. Mettie Love less, Provo, and Mrs. Mamie Hardy, Morono; 29 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2 p. m. in Valley mortuary mor-tuary chapel in Provo, by Dean E. Terry, bishop of Provo First ward. Burial was in the Provo city burial park. |
