Talks were given by Lars Bishop and by each ot his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Heber Bishop and by Bishop Ekins. On Monday evening a shower was given for Mr. and Mrs. Sven Larsen, who came here from Den-mark with Lars Bishop. A program was held in the chapel which in-cluded talks given by Lars Bishop, and by Mr. and Mrs. Larsen. Bp. introduced these speakers There -- six to participate in the Activity they played games of each home and on the lawn served different courses at The different places. They compos-ed a song, which tells of of the evening's refreshments. This group has planned a good also, and in time for next Tuesday vite all over twenty-fiv- e to join them. Seventeen singers from Hinckley will sing with group at the LDS tabernacle in Salt Lake City on Saturday night at the music festival at June conference. They will also sing over the Church of the Air program over KSL at i.sv Sunday morning. These people have been directed by Mrs. Doug- - and remarked about the courage they showed in making this big move. Maxine Reeve rendered a piano solo and lone Hilton a vocal solo. Two numbers were sung by the choir. Following the program, light refreshments were served and the gifts viewed. Many lovely gifts were given this family to help them in reestablishing them selves in housekeeping in Utah. On Friday nihgt the Twenty-firs- t Quorum of Seventys met at the Sand Hills for a party. They en-joyed a weiner roast and punch. On the second Tues-day each group met separately and had their various activities. The scouts held a court-6f-hon-at the canyon, enjoying games and supper while there, and ful-filling some merit badge require-ments for some. Mrs. Clif-ford Stratton was baptized a mem ber of athe LDS church by Bishop iEkins. .Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Tullis and family are visitors this week at tie home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Tullis . Also with them is Don Tullis of Salt Lake City, who plans to remain here for the summer. Mrs. Don Tullis has gone to Omaha, Neb., to visit with her mother who has had a recent op-eration. She plans to go from there to Denver, Colo., where she will supervise a camping group at sum mer school. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bishop of TOD Park were Hinckley visitors Sun-day. Mr. and Mrs. John Stewart of Los Angeles, Cal., were visitors last Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Wright. These people were friends of the Wrights when they lived in Chicago. They were enroute to Chicago to visit ficers for the summer are: Lester Hepworth, pres.; Lola Wright, sec. Next week they will meet at the home of Bjiron Robinson for les-son work The Junior Gleaners met at the home al their leader, May Cropper where Tihey partied. The MIA Maids, under the lead-ership of Lorna Buhanan and Beu-la- h Black had a party the first week and last night met at the home of Mrs. Black for sewing. The Second year Bee Hive girls met last Saturday under the lead-ership of Lillian Warnick, where they had a Sunrise Breakfast and fulfilled some requirements for the of cells. They plan to meet at an-other one this week. The Special Interest Group or-ganized the first week, having as their president, Bryon Carter, with Lois Wilson as their secretary and with Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Bishop as supervisors. This group met on Tuesday night ready for a progres sive party. Two trailers were hook-ed behind Leonard Palmer's tract-or to take the group to various , home for a progressive supper with relatives and friends there. Mr. and Mrs. Alma Western will go to Provo on Friday to attend the funeral services of Mr. Ped-erso- n, the mother of Mrs. Rulon Western. Sunday and Monday Mr and Mrs Blaine Spendlove were hosts to Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Peterson and family of Preston, Ida., and Cleo Hobbs of Alpine, Wyo., as well as Mrs. Mary Laura Merrill of Smith-fiel- Miss Laura Fillmore of Corrinne, Utah and Phyllis Peterson of Pres-ton Ida., returned to their homes with the Peterson family on Mon-day after a two weeks visit at the Spendlove home. Mrs. Merrill has stayed for a visit with her dau ghter. . Mr. and Mrs. Lee Judd and fam-i- y, Lee Roy, Suzanne and Marjorie, and Mr. David Stevens returned home Tuesday morning after an eighteen-da- y trip. Johnson, chairman to Sutherland Mrs. Maxine Jackson Owens re-cently left the St. Marks hospital and is visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George R. Jackson. She underwent a major operation for a back injury. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Porter and small daughter arrived from Fort Collins, Colo, on Monday. They will spend the summer in Sutherland. The MIA program called for group parties on Tuesday evening. The adult group met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cutler Henrie. The ladies of the town are grouped and twelve ladies will act as host-ess for each party. The Gleaners and M Men, with Delia Johnson and Gordon Moody, had a sand hill party. Stake High Councilman George Anderson of Oak City, Bishop John Fullmer of Abraham and Elder Bruce Lovell of Oak City, were the visiting brethren at sacrament meeting Sunday evening. Miss Marilyn Anderson gave a vocal solo at meeting. Many Sutherland poeple attend- - ed the farewell testimonial for Lee Ray McAllister in the Delta Second ward Sunday evening. Mrs. W. R. Walker, John Walker Marilyn Church and children visit-ed in Kanosh on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Holman are enjoying the visit of their daughter and grandchildren, Mrs. I Fay Turner. Mrs. Kimber, having become a grandmother was too thrilled to think of the club meeting. Mrs. Harris after having eaten of the ever filling lunch served told door dancing pavillion for the wed-ding reception Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Bryant made a trip to Manti temple then up north to another wedding. They surely do get about. With the ballgame schedules, the swimming date , the group meeting and all,, the mothers are asking congress to put another day in the week. ; The RS quilted a quilt on day. Eliason, Gen-evieve and Cleo Eliason spent a few days in Salt Lake City. Ormus L. Dutson returned to his home after spending the past two months in Colton, California. Thursday evening, June 15, there will be a farewell party and dance at the ward recreation hall for Stanley and Richard Dewsnup, who are leaving for a mission on the 19th of this month. Monday afternoon the Deseret Primary went to Oak City sand hills and had lunch and enjoyed the afternoon very much. Warren Moody from Baldwin Park is a visitor at. Deseert for the summer months. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Farns-wort- h and family from Salt Lake City are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Moody. Mrs. Ava Bennett is visiting this week in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Scow and son, visited on Vernon,- from Hurricane, Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milden Scow. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Crafts spent a few days in Ogden last week. Mrs. Rhoda Carmen and children left for Salt Lake City to visit her husband's mother, Mrs. Car-men. Rhoda had been visiting here a month with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Jensen. Richard Dewsnup and Lynn Rid-ing are home from school. Bill Conk, who is working as an engineer for the Salt Lake Pipe & Line Co., has spent the past 8 months in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, was injured the other day with an ax. It was necessary to take eight stitches in his arm. He spent the past week home with his mother, Mrs. Evah Conk, while his arm was healing. He returned Sunday to Ogden to continue his work. Mr. nad Mrs. Axel Stephensen and family from Provo spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Cahoon. Their daugh-ter, Beverly, remained here for a longer visit. |
