Show Frost Warning Comes For Might Of September 27 The first frost warning of this season arrived the morning of Sept. 27, saying "Party cloudy today. to-day. Clearing and colder tonight. Minimum temperature about 31. Frost in patches. Slightly warmer Friday." Salt Lake weather bureau. The frost has held off remarkably remark-ably well this year, with only a few sags in the temperature to alarm alfalfa seed growers. This week readings at Deseret were 32 on the 25th of Sept., a jump to 47 on the 26th, and 45 'for the 27th. At Sutherland, Monday night was 35, 50 the following night, and 48 the next. The Delta airport recorded re-corded 39 on the 25th, followed by a low of 57, and then 51. The early morning hours of the 28th should tell the tale. The forecasts fore-casts from the weather bureau for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were 35, 34, and 40. A possible 31 for the 28th would be damaging in some fields. However the bulk of the crop has been cut, benefitted benefit-ted by the late fall. And again, it may not frost at this time, for the local weather has never yet felt bound to agree with the forecasts. |
