Show "Faust" Slated For April 6 At Delta High "Faust", Gounod's grand opera after Goethe's drama, will be presented pre-sented in Delta, April 6, by the music dept. of the BAC of Cedar City. The grand opera is the most spectacular offering in scenery and stage action of any of the ten grand operas previously presented by the BAC The principals, double cast for the seven leading roles, number fifteen. In the chorus are eighteen singers, with the orchestra are 30 players. Prof. W. H. Manning is director of the production, and R. L.. Halversen is director of the orchestra. or-chestra. "Faust" is a semi-religious drama dra-ma and offers many tense and dramatic situations. All five acts have a stirring climax and the score contains some of the loveliest love-liest music in the operatic world. Delta is assured of a polished performance, per-formance, as "Faust" was played in Cedar City five times last week and at Panaea on Monday. Cast, scenery and costumes will arrive in Delta by buses early on Thursday. Two performances will be given in the DHS auditorium, a matinee at 1 p. m. and the evening even-ing performance at 8 p. m. They will be guests in local homes for their overnight stay, and luncheon guests at the Delta high school. Tickets for "Faust" have been selling rapidly and indicate the keen interest in their Delta appear ance. Townsfolk may attend the matinee if they wish, which will also be attended by Delta and Hinckley high school pupils. Admls sions to the night performance are $1 each for reserved seats, and matinee, 50 cents. The Delta performance is sponsored spon-sored by Lady Lions, as a hospital benefit, and the proceeds will go to the West Millard Hospita Assn. |
