Show MIA Opens New Summer Program The new summer MIA program for the wards has started out successfully suc-cessfully in Deseret Stake. Most of the wards are now having regular meetings according to the plans outlined by the General MIA Autn orities and find them to be well attended and greaty appreciated. The plan calls for one evening of lesson work 1 evening of joint ward activities and two evenings of entertainment or lesson work as the leaders of the various wards see fit, these to be held where the leaders and the members of the group so desire. Details of the summer program as well as next year's winter program pro-gram were outlined for mutual leaders at the largest MIA conference confer-ence to have ever been held in Salt Lake City. This year the age-groups are different from what they have been in the past. All over 25 are to be in the Special Interest group; with eighteen to 25 being the new age-group for M-men and Gleanors The Junior Gleaners include the age group of fifteen to seventeen; with the MIA Maids being the next group, including the group that was formerly third year Bee Hive group and the one who were first year of Junior Girls. Instead of 3 years of Bee Hive work, the program pro-gram now calls for two years of this work. The scouts age of entry en-try is now eleven where it was formerly twelve, and the age-group in this correspond with the age groups of the girls. Two wards have re-organized for the coming season. Reorganized Delta Second ward has a new YM-MIA YM-MIA superintendency, with Claude Warner being the new superintend ent, and his two assistants being Rul'on Callister and Rex Terry. Sutherland ward has a new superintendency sup-erintendency for the YMMIA and also a new presidency for the YWMIA. . The new superintendent is IBen Robison, with first assistant being Milo Mortensen and second assistant assist-ant superintendent is Max Johnson. John-son. Secretary for this group is Golden Erickson. For the young women, the new president is Rayda Rawlinson, with the age-group counselor being Mary Tippetts and the activity counselor being Dawn Hilton Porter, Por-ter, with Manon Robison as sec. This ward has shown much enthusiasm en-thusiasm for the summer program and has had their first joint activity act-ivity in the form of a dance and fair in which they raised funds' to help with the building of the new chapel. |
