Show Services Are Held Saturday For Ira Roy Morgan Funeral services for Ira Roy Morgan, Delta resident for many years, were held Saturday at 2 p. m. in Delta Second ward, with Norman Gardner, of the ward bishopric bish-opric presiding. Mr. Morgan died the preceding Wednesday in the hospital at Rexburg, Idaho, following follow-ing a heart attack. Mr. Morgan was bom Oct. 12, 1889 at Price, Utah, a son of Daniel Dan-iel and Callie Baxter Morgan. He was married to Lula Ann Johnson of Holden Oct. 8, 1917 and the couple lived in Duchesne and Aurora Au-rora before moving to Delta in 1922. Mrs. Morgan died and was buried in Delta in 1929. When he first came to Delta Mr. Morgan was employed at the sugar su-gar factory and continued to care for the grounds after the factory was moved. Later he was custodian custo-dian at Delta high school for a number of years. He was a lile-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and as a member of Delta Second ward served in many capacities. He was especially interested in Boy Scout work, and served as leader for more than ten years, and is remembered with esteem by the many boys who experienced his kindness and guidance. In 1940 he married Mrs. Alfrieda Sorenson of Rexburg, Idaho, and after a year in Delta the couple made their home in Rexburg, where they were employed at Ricks college. He is survived by Mrs. Morgan, and three children by his first marriage: Capt. Wayne Morgan, Texas City, Texas; Mrs. Roa Maxfield, Delta, and Mrs. Flora Tillery, Rexburg. Services were hied in Rexburg First ward chapel on Friday at 11 a.m. preceding the service in Delta Del-ta Saturday. Prayer by Willard Stephenson, a nephew, opened the rites in Delta, following an organ solo played by Mrs. Thelma Black. Speakers were Glen W. Seegmiller and Marion Mar-ion Henrie, who paid tribute to Mr. Morgan as a man of fine qualities, qual-ities, reliable, likeable, dependable, depend-able, and a good friend and neigh bor. Music was given by Mrs. June Lovell of Holden, and Mrs. Rella Manwaring of Boise, Idaho, in a duet, a duet by Mrs. Betty Turner and Layton Bishop. Remarks were given by Mr. Gardner and the closing prayer was given by Claud Warner. Burial was in the Delta cemetery where the grave was dedicated de-dicated by Leo Manwaring, of Boise, Idaho. Many out-of-town friends and relatives attended the services, including in-cluding Mr. and Mrs. Willard Johnson, John-son, Holden; Mrs. Jennie Hen-drickson, Hen-drickson, Santaquin; Mrs. Willard Johnson, Aurora; and Mr. Morgan's brothers, James and Harford Morgan Mor-gan from California, Will Morgan, Provo, Bert Morgan, Salt Lake City, and a sister who raised him, Mrs. Martha Tidwell of Spanish Fork. |
