Show Summer Sports SENIOR LEAGUE BASEBALL - - - Senior League baseball will begin be-gin Saturday, June 5, with a game, Oak City at Scipio, Delta bye. Hinckley Hin-ckley at Sutherland is being postponed, post-poned, to not conflict with the Deseret race meet, and will be played after the first half. The date will be announced later. Second round, June 12. Hinckley Hinck-ley bye; Sutherland at Scipio; Delta Del-ta at Oak City. Third round, June 19; Scipio at Hinckley; Oak City bye; Delta at Sutherland; Fourth round, June 26; Oak City at Hinckley; Scipio at Delta Sutherland Suth-erland bye. MINOR ACTIVITIES At a meeting held recently at Delta, to perfect the organization for the recreation program for summer sum-mer activities, three Deltans were chosen to represent different age groups. Any group interested in any type of activity in recreation is advised to contact the committee commit-tee member representing their group, to make arrangements to set up the sport program they wish. Mrs. Ansell Hall was chosen to represent children from the ages of 12 years and under. Ray Church represented the teen-age group, which includes 12 to 18 years. Cecil Baker will represent the adult group. Merlin Christensen will be chairman of the committee. See these people if you wish to join groups already set up, or are interested in-terested in forming another group. The first meeting on the minor Mr. Baker, as chairman of the adult group, is interested in having a tennis tournament, for men and women. This would be night tennis, for which the courts will be lit. He would like to have any men or women wo-men who would like to play contact con-tact him. Mrs. Hall will start the children's program Saturday, June 12, at 4:30 p. m., at the high school. They will offer story-telling and other minor activities. sports program was held Wednesday Wednes-day night. Minor sports will be carried car-ried on for anyone interested between be-tween the hours of 5 and 8 p. m. each Wednesday at the Delta high school. As the program grows more days and hours may be added. MAJOR ACTIVITIES SOFT BALL LEAGUE' Softball started off with a bang Monday evening at 7 p. m. Each week there will be a report made in these columns, starting with this week's games of Monday, Thursday and Friday in next week's paper, giving league standing stand-ing and scores by rounds. Much interest was shown Monday Mon-day night at the first round of play. The number of DeoDle who are involved in these Softball and baseball activities now is approximately approxi-mately 350, and many others will be participating in minor activities. GIRL'S SOFTBALL In major sports there has been a call for a girl's Softball league, girls between the ages of 12 years on up. Four teams have already registered and Mr. Christensen would like to have more teams registered by next Tuesday, so that a league could get organized and start play. So if there are any wards or communities interested in such a league, please get your teams lined up. |
