Show Final Rites Held For John E. Corev In Las Vegas John Erastus Corey, 61, died Saturday, Sat-urday, Nov.. 6, in the hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, after a short illness. He had been in the hospital hospi-tal two days preceding his death. Mr. Corey will be remembered in Delta as a former resident, and on frequent visits here with his wife, Mrs. La Fay Works Corey. Since 1939 he had lived in southern Nevada, Nev-ada, where he was a member of the Vegas Heights water board, and active in the affairs of the Vegas Heights community. He was born in Illinois, and came west as a young man. He had lived liv-ed in Seattle before moving to Las Vegas. In Nevada he had managed man-aged the Appedyke ice depot for 3 years, and 1942 entered the grocery trucking business. Recently Recent-ly he had been employed as a truck driver for the Cardinal Oil company of Las Vegas. Surviving are his widow, a daugh ter, Margo Jennette, 10, and a son, David Le Roy, 8 months, Two Stepsons, Step-sons, Ralph Gronning and Philo Gronning, both of Vegas Heights; two sisters and a brother. Funeral services were held in Las Vegas Nov. 9, followed by interment at Woodlawn cemetery. Bishop Johnson E. White of the LDS church officiated. Attending from Delta were Mrs. Corey's father fat-her .and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Works, and two sisters, Mrs. Lola Mankin and Mrs. Betty Lister. Former For-mer Deltans now living in Las Vegas who attended the services were Arden Sampson, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Oheel, Mrs. Blaine Johnson John-son and daughter,, Mrs. Lee, and Mrs. William Cook. Also there was Mrs. Nettie Wetner a sister-im-law of Mrs. Delia Lisonbee, of Delta. |
