Friday Coach Schwab took his base ball nine to Milford to play their first league base ball game, and he returned to Delta with a victorious team. , Monday, however, when the Delta I grid iron rabbits met Beaver here in Delta they met defeat to the tune of seven to three. The Delta track men, under' Coach Christensen heaped glory upon themselves Saturday by taking tak-ing second place in the track meet at Hurricane. There were thirty schools entered in the contest. Several Sev-eral favorable comments on Delta's team have been forwarded to the staff of the high school. .... By Mr. Chandler Although old Deita High School has seen some busy and unique weeks she has never witnessed one that can top the last few days. For example on Tuesday, April 13, any teacher who had previously entertained hopes of sudden maturity matur-ity of the girls had their hopes shattered to the ground because on that day there was hardly a girl who looked over grade school age. The venerable halls of the DHS groaned under their load of pigtails, pig-tails, short skirts, bare knees, and bubble gum. The teachers were heard to groan too, because for weeks they have silently or vociferously voci-ferously condemned such loath-spme loath-spme practices as chewing and blowing bubbles, sucking lollipops, eating pine nuts, and other such antics, but Tuesday they found themselves powerless to cope with the abundance of these things a-mong a-mong the girls who were dressed like their little sisters, and why, of course, it was junior girls' day. These same girls were tomboyish on Wednesday in their various slacks and shirts, and all were wearing some version of the latest fad, because that is the traditional girls' day. Indeed we might say that the coeds are fortunate this year because be-cause old Father Time presented them with a chance to take their boy friends to two leap year dances, dan-ces, the Leapin' Lena and this traditional tra-ditional girls' day dance that will |
