Show Forest Rangers Are Needed To Fill Gaps Tho Civil Scrvlco commission haa announced that an examination for tho position of forest ranger will bo held on or about October 29 at alt forest headquarters In Utah, southern Idaho, western Wyoming, and eastern and central Nevada. Persons deslr-tng deslr-tng to take this examination, may secure se-cure blank application forms No. 304 from tho Civil Sorvlco commission, Washington, D. C, from forest supervisors, sup-ervisors, or by addressing tho dla- trlct forester, Ogden, Utah, about September 1. These should bo executed exe-cuted and forwarded to the offlco of tho Civil Service commission, Washington, Wash-ington, D. C, as early as possible In order tlmt applicants may recelvo admission cards prior to tho dato of tho examination. Tho Civil Servlco register, resulting result-ing from tho examination in 19 1C, Is exhausted for tho district above-named, above-named, and tho Indications aro that there will bo numerous opportunities for appointments during tho next year from tho register resulting from this examination. In order to qualify for this examination, exam-ination, applicants must bo able-bodied, able-bodied, vapablo of enduring hardships, hard-ships, must not bo moro than forty years of ago nor ness than twonty-ono and must bo residents of tho state in which they take tho examination in order to bo certified on that stato register. If any applicant passes th9 examination and Is a resident of somo other state, his name will be placed on a supplemental list and there will bo no chance for appointment until the state register has been exhausted or residence has been established. A medical certificate Is required. Persons seeking light out-of-doors employment aro not qualified for this work and should not apply. Candidates Candi-dates must bo capablo of performing manual labor In tho construction of cabins, telephone) linos, and trails. Thoy must be possessed of at least a common school education and know tho rudiments of surveying, estimating estimat-ing and scaling timber, and bo familiar famil-iar with tho live stock industry and tho essentials of tho laws governing the public d6maln. A good fund of common sense, and practical experience experi-ence In field work, are essentials. Tho examination Is competitive. Appointees recelvo the initial pay of $1100 per annum and aro required to own nnd maintain tho number of horses, ordinarily not less than two, necessary to carry on their world Thoy aro furnished government for-ago for-ago In part and living quarters whero circumstances require. |
