Show NEWS LETTER FROM BENSON Benson, May 30. The copious rains we are having make some of our land too wet for plowing, so wo have not succeeded In planting all of our sugar beet acreage, but wo do not feel discouraged, as thero Is time left yet, and with the moist ground and warm weather we expect to follow fol-low these rains, tho beets will grow very fast. The alfalfa Is growing especially well and doos not appear to bo In the least damaged by the weevil. Havo not heard of anyone saying there are any wevil so far In tho luccern this year. The electric light company has men at work putting In poles through Benson, which Is good evidence that we shall soon have service along their line The stormy weather has delayed' de-layed' tho work somewhat, but sev eral Benson teams have Ignored the bad roads and 'succeeding In hauling haul-ing poles from Smlthfteld to the Amalgamated Sugar company's plant and from there south to tho creek along the county road. Manager E. R. Owen expressed thanks to tin haulers for their work In the rain and mud, as well as to tho workers on the lino. Work has been suspended suspend-ed until conditions are more favorable. favora-ble. J Tho work going on at the new-factory new-factory building would astonish ,ono ' who has not kept posted in regard to what is going on there. From appearances one may concludo that a village will soon spring up on the grounds of the company. E. R. Miles company now havo a mercantile store In the vicinity of the factory, which Is doing a good business. Work has started on the erection of a commodious hotel. Bear river has been very high for some time past, and there are still rushing torrents. |
