Show London Times Is Reprimanded By Premier Asqulth In the House of Commons for Having Published Certain Dispatches London, Aug. 31 Premier Asqulth publicly reprimanded tho London Times, in tho House of Commons this afternoon for having published tho dispatch which created suth exclto ment Sunday morning. "The publication of this dispatch," said tho premier, "seems to me a re-grotablo re-grotablo expression to tho patriotic retlcenco which tho press as a whole has shown up to tho present and 1 trust it will not recur." Mr. Asqulth refused the suggestion to allow correspondents to go to the front, but admitted that the public was entitled to prompt and authentic infnrmntinn aa to what was happcih ing there, and said that arrangements were being made which he hoped would prove adequate. Reverting to The Time dispatch the nremler then said: "It may becomo necessary to ask tho houso to pass some drastic leg-is.atlou leg-is.atlou which I shall bo very loath to proposo until tho urgency becomes cxtremu." Tho London Times on Sunday morning printed a dispatch from Amiens, Am-iens, France, in which tho corres-nondent corres-nondent took a very pessimistic view, of tho situation from thR standpoint, of tho allies. |
