The tourists were Initiated by n large public gathering at Hyrum on August 9, at which President Jensen, Jen-sen, Professor J. E. Hickman and Professor II, Otte, wero present. Tho largo audience showed much sympathy for tho causo tho speakers were representing and a very warm welcome was tendered by tho people of Hyrum us well as the old I).. Y. students. Tho following day, August Aug-ust 10, Paradise was visited and although al-though tho people were very busy with their furm work, tho chapel wns crowded to the doors by 8:30. A lively interest was manifested in the message the professors had to givo. No less Interest was shown by the lnrgo audiences in each of tho following fol-lowing towns and cities visited in the order mentioned: Mlllvllle, Provi dence, Hyde Park, Benson, Mendon, Wellsvllle, Newton, Clarkston, Beaver, Beav-er, Fielding, Deweyvllle, Honoyvllle, Brlgham, Garland, Blue Creek, Tre-raonton, Tre-raonton, Richmond, Lewlston, Franklin, Frank-lin, Preston, Smlthneld. The tour closed on August 30. From all Indications given the professors on their Journey tho col-lego col-lego enrollment will bo far In advance ad-vance this year over that of last. Many high school graduates from Cacho and Box Elder count:ea and vaYloiis parts of Idaho have signified their "intention of 'enrolling themselves them-selves for advanced normal work at the B. Y. Collego this fall. The col-lego col-lego Is now an nccredltea normal school, tho Stato Board of Education having already grunted tho Standard Normal graduates of last spring their certificates. This condition has aid; ed very much to causo tho high school graduates who nro contemplate lng becoming teachers again toward tho college for their proparatlon In the professional subjects. No less significant is tho attention the high school of tho collego Is .receiving. Many UIgU school stud-ents stud-ents and graduates from tho public schools aro dally visiting the schoo inquiring for rooms and board and. looking Into tho work to bo taken up when school opens. Tho high school department from all Indications promises a much larger enrollment this 'year than in the past. . |
