After hearing tho argument of the producers tho house votes to make a sharp reduction in the war tax on this product, which was severely se-verely handicapping this Industry. It al8o'vo'ted to eliminate the ten per cent tax on soda water and Ice cream. The question of removing tho five per cent excise tax on candy Is also al-so of great Interest ot western states. Candy manufacturing which Is growing with" the development of the sugar beet industry. Is unjustly hardened by this discriminatory tax which should be eliminated along with taxes such as the above. ' Congress Con-gress will undoubtedly tako favorable favora-ble action along theso lines soon. |
