H Shortly after graduating H from the Chicago College of Med- H icine and Surgery in 1910, he rc- WM turned to Smithficld and opened MB offices at his present location in Wmk the Miles Block. Since then he H has twice been elected mayor of jH that beautiful little city. It was H during his administration that H many civic improvements were f made, including enlarging and ffm perfecting the water system and lflB granting the franchise to the in- jjH terurbau Car Line. H. The Doctor owns a -very val- jHt, liable farm of one hundred acres B adjoining Smithficld, all of which 9b is under cultivation, and one of B that city's most comfortable jH' homes, He also owns a half scc- jH tion of dry farm land near Arimo, ' flB Idaho. jflg Of the, many places visited ,H by Dr. Merrill, none suit him so UH 'well as the progressive little city H of his birth. |
