Show SMITHFIELD Smithficld is indeed a flourishing flour-ishing little city. You will like it at a glance. At every turn you will feel that air of prosperity prosper-ity and contentment that is to be found in any thriving community. Any one of the little band of pioneers who first settled there over fifty years ago when the place was nothing more than a trackless desert and the haunt of the Indian and wild beasts, may well look with pride on the little city of today that is the result of their early labors. In is ideally located eight miles north of Logan, on the lines of the Oregon Short Line Railroad Rail-road and the Ogden, Logah and Idaho Klectric Railway and in and surrounded by a very rich agricultural country. It has a population of eighteen eight-een hundred people. Its streets J arc well lighted, wide nicely shad- I cd and kept in excellent con- 1 ditiou. Within the past few 1 years several miles opaved side- I walks have been laid and many j other civic improvements made. M It also has an excellent water j system. The schools arc a part jjj of that system that so distin- I guishes Cache Valley. i A stroll through the resident section will reveal many beau- 3 tiful homes, several of them bun- E galows, patterned along the lines j that arc so popular on the Pacific Coast. Not a few of them arc I owned by the farmers and cattle c men of that section. This flourishing little city iaj supports several substantial stores aud many other business h concerns. The stores arc very modem and carry splendid stock. One of the largest brick plants 5SJ in the valley is located there, also a well stocked lumber yard; a j large farm implement house ; two 1 flour mills, one of them has a cap- S acity of one hundred barrels per J day; and a branch condensing j plant of the Utah Condensed Milk Company. The country immediately tributary to Smithficld is devoted I principally to the agricultural, t cattlo and sheep industry. f Whether you be merchant, manufacturer man-ufacturer or farmer, a trip through Cache Valley would be well worth your while. |
