Representative Represen-tative Mays today received a telegram tele-gram from tho Salt Lako O ty committee com-mittee which has chargo of tho proposed pro-posed training camp nt Fort Douglas urging him to obtain an ndequato appropriation ap-propriation in tho ponding army bill to provldo for 'Instructors and equipment equip-ment for 50,000 civilians who nro expected ex-pected to attend tho various training camps this fall, Including the ono at Fort Douglas. Mr. May's at onco conferred with Chairman Hay who has chargo of tho army appropriation bill. Mr. Hay said that ho would agreo to an amend ment to tho army bill Increasing tho oniQunt carried In tho bill from J500,-000 J500,-000 to $2,000,000. With tho Increased amount It Is believed tho training camps can bo carried on successfully, successful-ly, oven with tho oxpocted largo In-crfaso In-crfaso of civilians In attendance. |
