Raises Vary Widely That the wcrk of the assessors In some sections of tho Btate has been much more fnvorably regarded by the board than the valuations made by the men doing tho work In other poi-tlons poi-tlons is clearly indlcnted by the wide divergence between tho limits of tho raise. For Instance, In the valuation of cattle, Carbon, Emery, Grand, Wnsh-1 ington and Wayne counties the ln- crease in valuation Is placed at 2."i per cent, while In Morgan, Piute, Sevier, Summit nnd some other counties the raise is only 1G per cent. As regards horses, the difference Is een more pronounced. The raise In Box Eider county is placed nt 35 per rent, while a majority of the other counties of the state escape with a raise of 10 per cent. The assessment of Davis county Is tho only one that remains re-mains entirely unchanged. While the proposed raise In the assessed as-sessed valuation will Increase tho revenue rev-enue to tho state by about 145,000, It Is explained by members of tho board that this is not tho prime motive In ordering the readjustment, which Is elmply designed to render more equitable equit-able tho burden of taxation, the board believing, ns It does that In many cases the basis of valuation has been too low. Tho following are the raises as ordered or-dered by the state board. On machinery, Tooele county, 10 per cent. On Improvements, Tooele county, 10 per cent. On merchandise, Carbon county, 10 per cent. On cattle, Carbon county, 25 per cent; Emery, 25; Grand, 25; Garfield, Gar-field, 25; Juab, 15; Kane, 25; Millard, 25; Morgan, 15; Piute, IB; Rich, 25; Sanpete, 15; Uintah, 15; Washington, Washing-ton, 23; and Wnyno, 25.
