Show Lewis Reunion. Pres. W. II. Lewis of Lcwlston sends us the following letter which is self explanatory: St. Louis, Mo., June 1, 1004. The Loyal Lewis Legion, a national, patriotic, fraternal, historical and geneological society of people by the name of Lewis and their kin, was organized or-ganized July 4, 1001, for the purpose of uniting all good and true descendants of the ancient Lewis race Into one universal and fraternal brotherhood to cultivate a pride in, -ancestry to make this order a fitting memorial to the names and virtues of our ancestors. an-cestors. In January, 1003, upon request of The Loyal Lewis Legion, the World's Fair designated September 24, 1004, as "Lewis Day," In recognition of the eminent public services of Meriwether " Lewis the first Governor of Missouri, " and (with dark) the explorer of the vast domain extending from the llss- o Isslppt River to the Pacific Ocean, c which was purchased by the United c States from France. It seemed quite appropriate that this day be celcbrat- t ed by a reunion of all good people by tho name of Lewis, and in furtherance further-ance of that purpose, an executive committee was appointed to make the necessary preparations for such an event. Tho Exccutlvo Committee lias succeeded in obtaining the names and addresses of nearly ten thousand respectable re-spectable Lewises, cacli of whom will receive a copy of this letter, and a copy of the booklet accompanying. You aro requested ,to carefully read tho booklet, In order that you may bo Informed as to the Immensity and magnificence of the great Exposition, and then having decided to visit this city, it is hoped that you will time your visit so as to be here On September Septem-ber 23rd and Join us In making "Lewis Day" tho greatest family reunion that has ever taken place. Every person per-son who bears the name of "Lowls" should feel a pride in tho name which was described by Washington as "an ancient and honorable family of Lewis." Upon every roll of honor, from the Declaration of Independence to tho recent war with Spain, the name of Lowls bears an honored place In the records of our Nation. It should, therefore, bo our pleasuro, as well an our duty, to do our part towards to-wards stimulating prldo In tho name, and, in so doliJtr, encourage those who como after us, to' show their pride In the name by living honorable lives. "Lewis Day" will bo ono of the events of your life If you will take part In tho celebration of that day. Will you como? Committees of Reception, Entertainment, Enter-tainment, etc., have been appointed, and everything wlP be arranged for comfort while In St. Louis. It will aid these committees considerably consid-erably If all who Intend coming will write Immediately Informing the Executive Committee of their purpose; pur-pose; all who write will bo met at tho Union Station and escorted to Camp Mewls, or to hotels, as' preferred. Tho Exccutlvo Committee recommends recom-mends Camp Lewis and feels under many obligations to the Lewis Publishing Pub-lishing Company for tho generous offer of half rates and for the good service which will bo rendered, in looking after the comfort of our visiting friends. The Executive Committee ulso recommends re-commends that It will bo advisable, for all who can do so, to arrange to arrive St. Louis a day or two before be-fore "Ljwls Day" In order to bo comfortably com-fortably settled and bo able to attond the meeting at 10 a. rrf. on September 23rd, In the Lowls building. The Executive Committee has received re-ceived hundreds of letters from Lewises Lewis-es who heard of "Lewis Day" all expressing ex-pressing great Interest and 'signifying their Intentions to come.
