Show Council Proceedings. The committee on streets reported on the U. Y. College petition for ,waks and reported that the petitioners petition-ers had 1,8001 feet of 3,504 Involved. The committee recommended that the walk on both sides of First North between First and Second West be 4 Instead of live feet wide as asked for, also that no crossings be put In this reason. This district Is for a walk on tho South side of First South between First and Sccjnd West; on the East side of second West between First South and First North: on both sides of First North between First and Second West, and on First West between be-tween Center and First North. Report Re-port of committee was accepted and recommendation be adopted. , Attorney Keelcr's report on Mr. Schaub'tf'flaTms" was to the effect-that under the ordinances It Is tho city surveyor's duty to establish lines and grades on all streets and alleys, and for tills he Is paid a regular salary; that It would be Improper for the city to pay him more or hire other persons to do It. Mr. Schaub handed in his resignation, the result of his bills being cut In two. Councilman Hatch moved that the resignation be accepted. Crawford moved that the committee on streets bring in a written writ-ten report stating the reason the bill of Mr. Schaub had been cut down and tho resignation bo tabled. Carried. Tho committee on streets reported on the petition of Hoard of Education and H. F. Rltcr for cement walks on the-North side of First South between Main and First West, and the East side of First West between Ccntcrand First South. The' petitioners have 55 feet front frontage morcL than tho necessary amount to' carry uio proposed propos-ed Improvement through, and tho committee' recommended that the walk bo laid. A resolution was adopted adopt-ed that' the work- may be prosecuted without delay George Wood offered' 50' for a piece ot land on 4th South and 1st East, due Soutliof FJelstcd property, containing an acre more or less. Referred to committee com-mittee on public grounds. The A. C. of U. wished the city to makd bid on the lighting of the school. On motion of Evans, committee on electric light was given power to act. Petition of J. E. 'ilson concerning a claim somothrco years old was referred re-ferred to city attorney. Cy. E. Nappcr and Samuel Glaser were granted wholcsalo and retail liquor licences. A resolution constructing Water Main extension, district No. 12 was read and passed. |
