Mr. Carlson is of Swedish descent, being born In Sweden In '.17. The family became Mormons, came to Utan In 'GO, and to Logan in 'fll. Mi. Carlson's home has been in Logan since. Until -0 vears ago he thought he was a Democrat, but studied the question, concluded right, that he was on the wrong side and allied himself him-self with Republicanism. From that time he became a railroad contractor and carried thiough to success many grading con tracts In Utah, Montana and Idaho. Finally his contracting led him into Canada. Thero for two and a half years ho followed tho same won;. Whllo there he was also a contractor In hauling war supplies for the Canadian Cana-dian government In a light with the Indians. Since 1885, Mr. Carlson has has been in Logan, and more than half of that time he has been In the sheep business. It takes a shrowd man to handle sheep to advantage and Mr. Carlson has done that. He is In pretty fair condition financially, owning considerable real estate In the city, ne Is wldo awake, agrcsslve, and progressive, and with sufficient business Insight to make a good councilman for tho Third ward. Nells Is a genial, popular fellow, who, If elected, will give a consclenclous service to the people he represents. |
