Show Utah's Tine Exhibit. Dispatch Says That The State Exhibit Scored a Distinct Triumph. 1'oitTI.ANI), OltKOON, AllKUSt 20. In her educational display, Utah has scored a distinct triumph. Prof. L. A. Ostlcn, the director, has K.ith-cied K.ith-cied a display which, in Its attractive arrangement. Is a surprise to Eastern people especially who have been convinced con-vinced that In the practicability of Its educational plan Utah excels almost every other state. A t the right of the entrance there l .some excellent art work done by the students of the IlrlKhtm Young University and the church normal training school at Provo. The Latter-day Saints University Uni-versity shows. some wonderfully clever sewing done by Its girl students, and the Snow academy or ICphralm, Weber Stake academy at Ogden, Lat-tci-tlay Saints University at Salt Lake city, and ISilghain Young College Col-lege and UnluM.slty are most creditably credit-ably leprcsentcd. Rolllop desks made by the students of Snow Academy Acad-emy and Ilrlgham Young University are shown as evidences or what the bojs who study manual training can do. There Is a meritorious art exhibit exhib-it from the Ogden schools, and a complete com-plete exhibit of the commercial course of the high school which illustrates original methods of teaching practical business to school bojs and girls. The A. C. of U. The Utah Agricultural college at Logan has made a icmarkable showing show-ing of the work of its students, some lathe worK In wood and Iron being especially creditable. There is, too, a table made by a third-year man, a bullet which Is the work or a fourth-year fourth-year student, and some hall scats made by students. Thcyoung women are represented by sewing work ranging rang-ing Irom simple cxeiclscs to completed ball gowns. More than a hundred Jars or fruit areshown ty the domestic science department. The normal training school has a line display, and a case In the center or the building holds some remarkable needle work, articles or Iron and wood, shoes and clothes, all made by the children ol the state Institution for the deaf and blind at Ogden Agricultural Showing. The central fcatuic is a p ram Id decorated with grasses which constitutes one of the most artistic displays on the fair grounds. Then there arc grains in glass jais and Hulls in abundance. A model of the Malad Irrigation scheme, with running water to illustiatc the manner man-ner of redeeming the arid lands, has attracted much lutciest. |
