Show DR. CNGLE AND BOOKS. Dr. John F. Englc holds tho chair of History, Civics and Sociology at tho A. 0. He ls a st riklngly original man, a careful student of atTairs and conditions, condi-tions, and recognized In educational circles as a man of capability. He Is a valued member of the Sociological club of tho city, and has also taken out ills degree from the Chicago Correspondence Cor-respondence School of law. Dr. Englc is also teacher of a bible class In this city and in the course of his Instruction Instruc-tion lias given that class a list of of twenty-ono books which ho feels should bo read by every man and woman who has arrived at an age calculated to mako It possible for them to read intelligently the books he suggests. Dr. Englo docs not mean that thcro aro no other books as good and helpful help-ful but docs believe that there Is too much promiscuous reading and that it would bo better if reading was dono with a moro certain purpose in view, and with the idea of broadening the mind along general lines. Whether or not this list is such a one as would bo given by other men of equal or greater capacity we are not prepared prepar-ed to state, but wo bollcvo that Dr. Anglo's ability is assurance that the list Is a good one and wo here present it for your consideration. It may also bo stated that Dr. Englo gave a special reason why ho selected each book, and that lie selected each with great caro and after careful consideration.
